LONG NIGHT’S JOURNEY INTO DAY…. As we all know, asking for help in times of need is not an easy task…especially to one whose heritage is intently focused on what is considered “honorable”. Please consider participating in this project. Through your prayer and financial support this roadblock can be cleared, allowing Pete and Lisa to continue their life journey on a safe and healthy route.
Peter Ishioka was raised with a strong Japanese ethic to “bring no shame to the family”. The twists and turns he has encountered on this journey called “life” have always been met with bravery and honor; but his most recent health issues now threaten his ability to provide for his family.
BUMPS IN THE ROAD - Diagnosed with Type II Diabetes in 1986, Pete faced the challenge head on. “Journeys” are one of Pete’s favorite recreational treats, but this twist in the road was not one he envisioned.
MAJOR DETOURS - Pete was diagnosed with Chronic Kidney Failure April 2015! The journey had taken a very unanticipated path. Pete relies on dialysis 3 days per week, 4 hours a day, until he becomes a candidate for a kidney transplant. While daily depending on the Lord for strength, Pete continues to strive to do his best for himself and his family.
December, 2017 brought a crushing detour for Pete and his wife, Lisa. An ulcerated wound on the top of his foot wasn’t healing but, getting worse. Pete was hospitalized for bypass surgery to correct a limb-threatening blocked artery at his knee. Complications and infections had him hanging onto life, and his leg, until he was released from hospitalization and nursing rehab at after 2 months.
2018 --- ROADBLOCK - Because of the dialysis, and the need to limit time on his feet (with the hopes of keeping his leg), Pete had to resign from his job. Lisa, with her limited income, is now cast into the role of sole provider.
So… the bills mount. Basic living and overwhelming medical expenses have created a major roadblock. Mountain journeys were always a welcome adventure – until the mountain turns out to be bills that cannot be paid. And so, the road is crumbling and in need of major repair.
ROAD REPAIR PROJECT - Pete and Lisa are now in desperate need of financial aid. Without it, they are at risk of losing “everything”. Your donation will help sustain them as they work their way out of this dark portion of the journey into the daylight awaiting when a successful kidney transplant for Pete has been achieved.
