Long Haul is a personal story based on situations and events from my own life, and it's a story that is as relevant today as it was 20 years ago. This film has been the definition of a passion project and thanks to the donations and other contributions of time and resources from our cast and crew we have a finished film! All that's left now is to get it out into film festivals for the world to see. But submitting to festivals is not cheap and submission deadlines for next year's festivals are happening now!
There are over 7000 film festivals in the world. We plan on focusing primarily on the most prestigious festivals to make sure each dollar is spent wisely. Sundance, Tribeca, and Cannes are at the top of the list, then the rest of our top choice submissions will be selected from a list of Oscar-qualifying festivals. To be accepted at any of the festivals we submit to will be considered a major achievement for the film, and its cast and crew. To win any awards in these festivals would be a dream come true for me (the film's writer/director) and the film's producers who have also made sacrifices for this film.
In addition to these top festivals, we would also like to submit to any festivals local to the Director and Producers. These are great opportunities to exhibit and represent the local film community without breaking the bank.
The base goal will get us submitted to all festivals on our wish list. Any amount raised above that goal will go towards traveling to any festivals where Long Haul is accepted.
Your contribution would mean the world to me. All of the time and effort put into this project over the last years have led to this moment. Success for this film means it gets to be a part of the important conversation between families, society and religion. For me personally success for this film would also mean getting more opportunities to tell compelling, entertaining, and sometimes important stories like this on the big and small screens for a living.
