Lola: Space Kitten Princess
Some of us know her as Lola. Some, as Laura Bokinskie, Laura Walsh or just Laura. Others perhaps know her as kitty space princess…or something close to that. The lucky ones know her for the free-spirited, love giving, magic believing, mushroom hunting, woods peeing, ocean sitting, wine sipping, smart, resourceful, amazing woman she is. Her childlike wonderment is always such a treat to behold because it is true & believed. And then she will turn around and tell you something so unladylike you’re not sure if you heard it right!
There are many ways your path may have crossed with Lola. Biking? Thrifting? Traveling? Mushroom Hunting? Bingo? Restaurant? Bar? Pulltabs? Food? Wine? Cheese? It could be that you know Lola because you know one of the many people whose lives she touches. Regardless of how you know her, it is safe to assume you think she rocks. And she needs our help.
WHAT THE &*%#?!
As she was on her way to work Wednesday morning, biking in the bike lane on Hennepin Ave, Lola was struck by a driver attempting to make a left turn. She has thrown from her bike and sustained serious injuries inlcuding a skull fracture. She is currently in the ICU at HCMC, and being attended to by the brilliant HCMC Brain Trauma & Neurosurgery Units. They recommend for the next couple of days visits be few & brief. She also shouldn’t be using her phone or ipad too much while she rests and her brain heals. She will most likely be in the hospital through the weekend. She will start physical therapy as her healing warrants. We will know more every day. And we will keep you posted.
KSP NEEDS OUR HELP!
What we DO know is that Lola will not be able to work for at least 6 weeks, possibly more depending on healing, physical therapy and other factors. Her hospital bills are mounting, as will be her mortgage, household & pet costs. We are hoping to raise enough to cover a few months of bills & start on the hospital bills. This our chance to show her the love she shows to all of us.
There will be more ways to help coming up soon, but right now this is the most important & urgent.
