Locklin’s Nicu Journey

Donation protected

*update: Locklin’s Brain scan was NORMAL which means no brain bleeds or abnormalities. They do this at a week old and we are so thankful it was normal!!! They had found his right bowel was extended and they temporarily took him off feeds. He will start back feeds on Sunday. The X-rays have shown improvement. His sweet nurse last night crochet him a hat and an octopus. We are incredibly thankful and so grateful for all the prayers and donations!!! We are so blessed that our little boy is doing so well right now!

I hate to be here again asking for help but we know Lockin will be in the nicu until March/April. That being said My
goal is to be able to keep Cody (his father) here with me during our stay. We have been connected with a social worker for RMH because we now qualify with there new
covid restrictions but if cody goes home to work and tries to come back to visit he will not be allowed back in RMH due to covid
policies. We are asking this so we can cover
food costs and our bills until March/April. RMH covers dinner and on Tuesday’s and Thursday March of Dimes Provides Lunch other than that we are on our own for
meals. For those of you who are new and not familiar with our story I was admitted into UAB on December 28th because I was bleeding I was 24 weeks pregnant. I was here for six days and they discharged me. 4 days later the bleeding returned and I was transported back to UAB. My placenta had already partially detached from the last visit and this time I developed a hematoma. That’s when they made the decision I was staying until I delivered. A few days later I developed severe Pre E, Gestational Diabetes, and he started having large decels on the monitor. On 1/20/21 they hooked me up to an NST and he had 6 decels in one hour. The next morning the doctors rush in and place me back on the monitor for another NST. He again started having even larger decels. They did an ultrasound quickly and found his fluid was low and he looked stressed so they wheeled me to L+D I was on the high risk floor and the doctor on call said it was time for an Emergency C Section. At this time I was 27 weeks 6 days.  During the CSection they discovered Locklin had pooped several times from being in distress and had ingested it but thank goodness his blood cultures have been negative for infection.  So far Locklin is on room air, he weighs now 1lb 9oz he’s lost
2 oz but they said that’s normal and he’s under phototherapy. So far he is doing great but we have a long road ahead of us. Please be in prayer and if you feel led to donate we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
