Locatile stands for Local Mercantile and it is a virtual marketplace. We are a trio of conscientious entrepreneurs on a mission to support local brick + mortar boutique shops by providing an online e-commerce website that unites local businesses on a single platform while making it easy for consumers to shop locally online.
At launch our startup business will focus on downtown Crystal Lake and the Historic Woodstock Square made famous by the Bill Murray Groundhogs Day Film.
Why are we crowdsourcing…. because brick + mortar retail businesses in our community need our help. Spending locally keeps the lights on, it keeps local people employed and owners able to keep going. Yet there are barriers and hurdles that prevent local shoppers from spending more funds in local businesses. It’s either lack of knowledge of local store offerings or where they are located, or the lack of time or willingness to shop in person due to the pandemic, which is an added deterrent. Plus spending habits are trending online.
Locatile is a startup company whose focus is putting service before profit. We are asking for contributions so we can onboard local brick + mortar shops who wish to participate FREE of charge. This means that as more funds are contributed, the more shops we can offer onboarding to without any upfront cost to them.
Since launching Locatile we’ve been building the virtual shopping platform and beta testing with several early adopters. The support and encouragement has been overwhelming, and we thank you all for that. Additionally, Locatile has become members of Downtown Crystal Lake and the Woodstock Chamber of Commerce . With your continued support, Locatile has ramped up its development, marketing and testing and we are on pace to bring this service to the market by the beginning of 2021.
