Local Meals for Local Medical Workers

THE PROBLEM:
In this moment, many of our healthcare workers in hospitals are fighting day and night for the lives of your loved ones, friends, and community members. The physical and mental toll is excruciating. One way you and I seek solace and rest, in times of physical and mental exhaustion, is with a warm meal. A familiar taste, favorite dish, and comforting moment, not to mention an essential human need. And the gift of having that provided for you and your family from time to time is one of the most compassionate and kind acts of service and care.
For our local restaurants, the ones you have grown to love and frequent over the years, many are barely making it in this season. The places that have given you memories with family, friends, and surprising moments of conversation and community may not last much longer.
So, let's do something about both of these things, together.

THE PLAN:
Together, we're going to raise $1,000 over the next few days. This money will be used to buy 20 individual gift cards in the amount of $50 each, directly from local (ie. non-chain) restaurants in Lincoln, Nebraska.
These gift cards will then be given to ER nurses and doctors at hospitals in Lincoln, NE to provide a meal for themselves and other household members.
If more money is raised, additional cards will be purchased.
All gift cards and delivery recipients will be posted on Instagram to show where your generosity has been given.
Your action and generosity is helping solve and support two problems together:
1. Needed support and business for local restaurants you have grown to love that do so much for our community.
2. Physical and emotional support for our medical workers, friends, and family who are fighting hard to keep our loved ones alive in an unprecedented and difficult time.
