LOCAL HERO'S HOME IS AT RISK

Update by Daniel,
The home is in escrow now, and the closing date has been extended to  "on or before 11-21-18", which happens to be our 15th wedding anniversary!  The appraisal was done on Friday morning (11-9), and as long as the value is at least equal to the loan amount, the deal should go through by the deadline. While we do have enough for the down payment, we seem to be about $2,500 - $3,000 short on the closing costs. I wouldn't be surprised if some other costs "pop up" before all is said and done, so I have changed the goal to $30,000, now that I have a better idea of our actual needs.

My wife and I really appreciate everybody's help in this effort to stay in our home and continue my efforts to help make Prescott a better place for everybody to enjoy.

Thank you all,
Daniel

Daniel Mattson is one of the Prescott area's most valuable assets, as he passionately loves and serves the local poor. He has helped thousands, and saved multiple lives. He is urgently fundraising to purchase his home of 10 years, which is slated to be sold.

For the last 10 years, 50+ hours per week, Daniel has selflessly volunteered his time unpaid to serve this region's low income population. This giving man and his lovely wife Grace now have a need. For 10 years they have rented their home, but now it will be offered for sale by November 5. Area rents have gone up, and so this couple cannot afford to relocate elsewhere in the Prescott area. So Daniel is trying to raise $40,000 for a down payment (the house's remaining balance is $120,000, after rent credit and earnest money were deducted), to allow them to stay in their home.

A typical week for Daniel will include the following:

Helping to feed over 100 hungry people with Granite Creek Hunger Ministries.
Transporting the poor to and from medical appointments and on other important errands.
Non-life threatening transporting of the poor to the ER (saving the city thousands), and home from the hospital (on call 24/7).
Helping the poor with auto repairs, saving countless jobs.
Pickups from highway strandings.
Counseling and comforting the broken and the desperate.
He serves on the board of directors of Yavapai Regional Transit.
Many credit him with saving their lives. Untold problems have been solved and favors done, as you can read in the testimonials of grateful clients.

I am a grateful client of Daniel, and credit him with helping to save my own life (my name is Elaine Sisler). I am highly educated, but illness forced me into poverty and I lived on the edge for many years. Daniel helped me so many times, in many ways, and was a bulwark for me. He is humble and unassuming in his manner, but there are many untold stories of the incredible help he has given to so many in the area.

Prescott cannot afford to lose a man who has such a positive impact on our area. All donations help, whether large or small, so please give. Thank you.

Granite Creek Hunger Ministry is an all-volunteer group that has been serving a high quality meal every Saturday to over 100 low income people in the Prescott area. During the warmer months (April – October) of the year, the meal is served outside at Monument Park. In addition to the food that our volunteers prepare at home and bring to the park, we also grill hamburgers and hot dogs on site. Daniel stores the propane grills, as well as the serving tables that we use, in a loaned trailer at his home all year long and from April to the end of October he transports them to the park every Saturday. The fresh grilled hamburgers and hot dogs have been a signature part of the meal for the past 20 years, but it’s extremely difficult to find a volunteer willing, and able, to store the needed equipment, and then deliver it to the park every week. If Daniel is unable to raise the needed down payment that would allow him to continue residing in his home, Granite Creek Hunger Ministry’s service to the community would be severely impacted.
