Local Buffalo Gear Shop Destroyed by ThunderSnow

Western New Yorkers are tough, and we know how to ride out a storm but there are times when Mother Nature wrecks our best laid plans.

Nickel City Designs is a well-loved family-owned small business located in downtown Hamburg, NY. Scott and his husband Chris, who own and run the business also design all of the items they sell to reflect the very best of our strong community. Family members are huge fans of both the Bills and the Sabres and they take pride in Hamburg, Buffalo and all of Western New York that shows in their work. They supply the Bills Mafia with some of the best gear around.

When the storm hit, they had just prepared their store and designed, created or ordered all of the items to fulfill holiday orders. The shop sparkled with holiday cheer.

But the storm had other plans. The roof imploded under the weight of over 80 inches of snow and the building was immediately condemned and demolition was ordered. No one was allowed inside. Not one item can be retrieved and this small, family-owned business is now devastated.

Insurance adjusters are requesting photos from inside the building. But Hamburg officials said there was no chance anyone could be allowed inside. The bulldozer is literally taking the building down right now, two days after the storm ended. And while we are glad that everyone is ,and will be safe, this is a dramatic blow to this small business.

There are orders to fill and no revenue to create new products.

So we are asking for the help of the community to rally around this business and this family and help them get back on their feet so they can again produce the items that represent BuffaLove.
