David's Fight Against Lymphoma

This is the story of my Father-In-Law. While it might be long and complicated, I promise this man is worth every minute.

David came into my life when I met my husband in January of 2003. From the very first day, he treated me like his own child. In 2006, I married my husband and we officially became family.

Then our worlds changed in October of 2008 when we got a terrible call. My sister-in-law Brandi (my husband's sister and David's youngest daughter) had been brought to the hospital and was not expected to make it. By the time any of us got there, she was gone. She left behind 4 beautiful children, 3 of whom David and my mother-in-law Kathy are now raising.

David works as a plumber and Kathy stays home with the kids, so needless to say money was tight. Then in 2008 we got another shock. David had gone to the dcotor for a sore throat and the doctor did not like the size of the lymph nodes in his neck. After several tests, he was diagnosed with cancer- Stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

He has gone through countless runs of chemo, 1 of which shut down his kidneys and landed him in the hospital for 10 days. He has been in remission twice, but is now actively fighting again.

His best hope now is a trail medication, but it is expensive. Each pill is a little over $100 and he takes it 3 times a day. His insurance will only cover it for a year.

So that's why I'm here. I am hoping to help to cover his medication for some time after his insurance stops paying. He has 3 living children, 10 grandchildren, and and 4 (soon to be 5) great-grandchildren who need Papa to be around for a very long time. And I hope this can ease some of the burden.

Thank you!
