Breast Cancer - Funeral Expenses

Donation protected
My name is Lourdes M. and I am here to ask for help from my community.  My mother Ana M., 53, passed away in her sleep on 1/31/2015 at home after a five year long battle with breast cancer.  Though we knew she was in her final times having signed hospice paperwork a few weeks ago, we did not expect everything to be so sudden.  She leaves behind her husband, as well as 7 children ranging from ages 29 to 9 years old.

My mother Ana was an energetic, optimistic, and happy woman.  She cared about her and her family's health, always pushing us to take care of ourselves.  Above all, she valued her children's education.  She knew that getting a good education would allow us to write our own stories for our lives, and wanted us to thrive.  She wanted the best for her children and wasn't shy about telling us so.  She graduated from Compton Community College (Compton, CA) with her Associates Degree that she obtained while raising her children.  She was a woman with a lot of faith, and hope even until her last days.

While we find ourselves grieving for the loss of our beautiful mother, we are also all struggling to figure out logistics.  Having been fortunate not to experience a death in the family, we were not prepared to face the various expenses that have come following my mother's passing including the mortuary, and burial services.  My siblings, father and I are pooling together our money to give my mother a proper burial, and are finding that this is far more expensive than anticipated, even while looking for the least expensive options.  It is now that I ask for your help during these trying times.  Any donations from you will be well received and very much appreciated from me and from my family.  I set this Go Fund Me with the hopes of covering a chunk of the expenses that have come about.  Thank you for all of your support.

As a side note, my mom was a huge fan of Wellesley. She loved it and loved that I got to be part of such a great community. She treasured her Wellesley Mom Mug and Shirt. Even a couple of weeks ago, she tracked down an aunt that had accidentally taken her Wellesley Mom mug because she loved it so much!

PS The photo above was taken on January 5, 2015.  It was my little sister's 9th birthday and my mom is wearing her crotcheted hat.  The yarn was courtesy of my beautiful Wellesley community that sent her yarn and cards from all over the country/world.
