House of Cards- Building A Legacy

Donation protected
Davison High School's robotics team, House of Cards, has it's eye on the FIRST Robotics World Competition this year in St. Louis Missouri. In order to compete, they first, must win at the local, district, and state levels.  Each team must raise a minimum of $5000.00 per competition. This includes the team’s competition registrations of their robot and their team members, all travel & lodging fees, and robot maintenance materials & tools for each competition.
With such a short season, they need to raise these funds as quickly as they can.

In A Nutshell:

Combining the excitement of sport with the rigors of science and technology. We call FIRST Robotics Competition the ultimate Sport for the Mind. High-school student participants call it “the hardest fun you’ll ever have.” Under strict rules, limited resources, and an intense six-week time limit, teams of 20 or more students are challenged to raise funds, design a team "brand," hone teamwork skills, and build and program industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game against like-minded competitors. It’s as close to real-world engineering as a student can get. Volunteer professional mentors lend their time and talents to guide each team. Each season ends with an exciting FIRST Championship.

House of Cards will compete in 3 competitions BEFORE they are able to reach their ultimate goal:

Local-Kettering-March 11-12 2016- 2nd Place Finish
District-Marysville-March 24-26 2016- 1st Place Finish
State-Grand Rapids Deltaplex-April 13-16 2016- 14th Place Finish
World- St. Louis Missouri- April 27-30 2016

Benefits to the kids who compete:

The positive impact on FIRST Robotics Competition participants is gratifying and well documented. Over 88% have more interest in school, 90% have more interest in taking a challenging math or science course, and 90% are more interested in attending college.

FIRST Robotics Competition teams get to:

Learn from professional engineers
Master STEM skills
Learn and use sophisticated software, hardware, and power tools
Build and compete with a robot of their own design
Improve teamwork, interpersonal, and communication skills
Compete and cooperate in alliances and tournaments
Understand and practice Gracious Professionalism™
Earn a place at the FIRST Championship
Qualify for $22+ million in college scholarships

Team House of Cards would be so very grateful for your support this season.  They are working hard to break the stereotype of the "typical" athlete.  These kids use one of the most powerful muscles in the human body, the brain, and they challenge themselves just as hard as any other athlete out there. They don't have a booster club, they don't have pep rallies, and they don't have large community sponsors.....yet.

Every donation puts this team one step closer to their goal.

Team House of Cards thanks you all for your support!
