While on campus during the summer of 2017, Linzell and Juwon spent their late nights studying and partying with friends. As their nights would progress and their friends stomachs would grumble, they began to notice that there was a lack of food options available for them and other students to enjoy. Having excellent cooking skills passed down from his late grandfather, Linzell would cook meals for the entire group of hungry friends. Over time, the friends said the meals were so delicious and satisfying that they would be willing to pay for them every night!
This is when we decided to start LJ's Midnight Munchies, LLC
, a late night fast-casual food restaurant for the sporadic late-nighter and your standard night owl. Our mission is simply to provide a wholesome, handcrafted, and unique dining experience for a student-friendly price. Our JourneyLJ's Midnight Munchies
has been on a rollercoaster ride since its opening night on October 6th, 2017
. Within the first 3 weeks of opening out of their college dorm room, Linzell and Juwon were able to grow LJ's much faster than they ever imagined. They were able to acquire 98 customers
, get an article featured in their local paper
, and be one of the first two companies in the Lehigh Valley to form a partnership with UberEats
, all while being full-time students
and Division 1
track and field athletes!
Once they outgrew their dorm room in the spring of 2018
however, they have had trouble securing a location where they can fully operate and cater to all the needs of their customers. Although they were always able to adapt and be flexible when it came solving business problems, the issue of not having a permanent location pushed the two past their physical and financial thresholds
. Bouncing from non-functional kitchen to non-functional kitchen ended up taking a huge hit on their ability to meet customer demand
and led Linzell and Juwon making the hard decision to leave a lot of people hungry and temporarily close down shop. Our Ask
Each one of these steps on our journey has brought to where we currently are. To name some of the milestones we've reached:
- Having a family of 200+ customers
throughout the Lehigh Valley
- Getting featured on a Times Square billboard
in New York
- Official caterer
for three distinct Lehigh University organizations
- Perfect 5 star rating
on Google Business Page
Although these are amazing achievements, we know that we can do 10x more than
anything we've already accomplished once we are able to acquire our own location. We are happy to announce we have found a location that we are near closing on as the new home for LJ's Midnight Munchies!
The location is close enough Lehigh's campus so that we can cater to their students and it also allows us to expand our reach even more to a nearby college campus and the residents of the Lehigh Valley.
However, in order for us to close this deal all the way through we are going to need some financial assistance from all of our family, friends, and supporters
! To move into this new location, we must cover the following cost:
- Security Deposit
- Legal forms and applications
- Equipment Repair
- Initial Inventory
- Website Development/Marketing
Although the full cost of these things is much more, we are only asking for a total donation amount of $3,000
! Once we are able to bring this amount together, we can fully move in to our new space and begin to expand our operation and family
Although we are asking for monetary donations, any form of support
you are able to offer is greatly appreciated! Even if you aren't able or do not want to offer a monetary donation, a simple share to social media
can be just as if not more of a show of support for LJ's Midnight Munchies!
Linzell and I just want to thank you all
in advance for any form of donation and support you are able to offer!
If you want to speak with either me or Linzell at any time or simply have any questions please reach out to our email or Instagram page @ljmunchiesThank you once again and we hope to be serving you one day soon!
