Lizzie's Post-Cancer Surgery

Dear Friend and Family of Elizabeth Rogers,
Many of you already know that Lizzie is an Osteosarcoma Cancer survivor, she was diagnosed in her early 20's and life completely came to a stop during her battle with cancer. But in true Lizzie fashion she went through the treatment like a champ and was put into remission.
The healing process has been long and strenuous. She has had countless medical issues resulting from the cancer in her lower spine. With years of dealing with all of the residual effects from the radition and chemotherapy taking a toll on her body - nerve damage, kidney removed, splenectomy, an intestinal resectioning, limited mobility of her leg and foot, and many other surgeries along the way. She is finally going back to the wonderful doctors who took care of her through the cancer treatment in Boston at Massachusets General Hospital!! THIS is the place and the staff that she needs to get the surgery done and to just be normal again.
The surgery will remove the bone fusion metal cage in her back and vertical rods and pedicle screws. Biopsies will be done on the bones and bone marrow since the doctors here in PGH were unable to see any clear pictures of her back because of all the metal that was in there to support her spine and pelvis. Physical therapy will have to be done before she's even allowed to leave Boston which means staying in a hotel for the duration of the stay.
All the love and support of each and every one of Lizzie's friends and family have meant the world to her. She is trying to stay brave and strong. Your help in any way with the burden of all the expenses that come along with this surgery and post-op treatment would put her mind a little more at ease. We are praying hard and staying positive that this will get her back to a happy and healthy state of living so she can truly enjoy the years to come with her beautiful little 3-year old daughter Ruby.
