This fund is for our daughter Elizabeth, or Lizzie as we call her. Lizzie is smart, funny, beautiful, and so much more. But don't let that exterior fool you, Lizzie also suffers from severe depression & anxiety as well as a mood disorder that they have stopped short of saying she is bipolar. Lizzie has made three attempts on her life since July of 2014, with the last attempt being February 2015. That is three attempts in seven months! Each time her attempts escalate just a little bit more. She has also started cutting. She has been hospitalized three times. She sees a therapist and a psychiatrist. She is on medication. She has been given hundreds of coping skills. None of which seem to be helping her.
We have been given an opportunity to send Lizzie to a long term treatment center. This treatment center is faith based and for adolescent girls only. It was recommended to us by another couple from our church who have recently used them for their own daughter. She will be there for 15 months. This was a very difficult decision for us to make, but after much prayer, talking with our pastor, our home group leaders, and others with similar experiences, we are certain this is the path we should take.
We would like to have her admitted as soon as possible, but as you can imagine treatment like this comes at a very high cost. The cost of the program includes counseling with a master's level counselor, room and board and because it is a 15 month program there are education costs as well. The cost include uniforms, curriculum materials and teachers. Since we are certain that God wants us to take this path, we are faithful that He will provide a way. That is where you come in.
The total cost for this program is $ 39, 100. We need $7,250 upon admission and the tuition is $2, 450 per month. With the cost of her other hospitalizations and having three other kids at home, we simply do not have the funds.
