My mother Ermenia Coronado of Poteet, Tx suffers from NAFLD and has received the gift of life from Dayna Tate of Jourdanton, Tx.
Ermenia has been married to her husband, Edward, for 29 years. She has two adult children, John and myself Angelica along with 4 grand daughters and a grandson. A member of the St Phillips Catholic Church in Poteet, Tx. She enjoys sewing and quilting. In her healthier days, she loved to dance and was very active as a volunteer in her church. She worked for the state of Texas under the office of the attorney general child support division for 20+ years before medically retiring in 2008.
After her transplant surgery, Ermenia will be in need of in home healthcare which her insurance doesn’t cover. The need is for a significant amount of time. Funds raised will benefit Ermenia directly.
Dayna Tate is an altruistic donor, she did not previously know Ermenia before making the decision to be her living donor. She has two small children, Elizabella and Walter. Her recovery from the transplant will take approximately 8 weeks as 30-70% of the right lobe of her liver will be removed and transplanted into a “swapped candidate” whose donor will be used for Ermenia. So in fact, by coming forward, Dayna is actually responsible for saving not one, but two lives!!! As two liver transplant recipients now have completely compatible donors!
After surgery, Dayna will need funds to meet financial necessities not covered by recipients insurance and because she will not be working, no income wages will be earned. She will also need to pay for her personal medical insurance to her employer out of pocket while recovering in order to not lose benefits she may need formfollow up and after care.
The hard work is done! Ermenia’s health will be drastically improved and years added to her life thanks to a donor coming forward.
