Liver Transplant Jessica Gresham

Donation protected
Jessica began having liver problems in 2005 while her husband  Jonathan was in Iraq.  Her condition has been controlled by anti-rejection medicines since she was diagnosed.  In September of 2017 Jessica was diagnosed with a secondary disease called Primary Sclerosing  Cholangitis, which also causes damage to her liver.  Since she was diagnosed, she has been admitted to the hospital almost once a month due to complications from PSC.  She is eligible for living donor transplant to improve her quality of life.  After everyone in her immediate family was ruled out as potential donors, her husband Jonathan volunteered and was a match. Jonathan and Jessica were married at 18 years old, and almost 18 years later to the day he will be saving her life by donating 60% of his liver to her!

The transplant will be performed on Tuesday, April 10th and they will both be in the hospital up to week.  They will both be required to be off work for around 12 weeks, and Jessica will have to stay in the Dallas area for up to 6 weeks post transplant.  Unfortunately, insurance will not pay for them to stay at the Twice Blessed House, which is the apartment Baylor provides for transplant patients.  The cost of the apartment will be approximately $500/week for an apartment big enough for a caregiver to stay and for their daughter Mackenzie.  This expense, plus cost of living and their regular household bills will be a burden that hopefully can be lessened by your help!

Any amount, large or small, is greatly appreciated by this family!
