Liver transplant for Henry Riang

Donation protected
Dear Friends & Family,

I am writing in desperate need of financial help for my brother’s liver transplant surgery. Henry, my 16 year old brother, lives with my parents in India. He’s a regular kid who loves to listen to music, keep up-to-date with the latest electronic gadgets, travel to new places, play sports, and cook incredible meals.

Henry recently traveled to Pune (a city in the western part of India) for an extended weekend to visit some of his friends. While on his trip, Henry sent me a text message saying that he had not been feeling well, so he admitted himself to the hospital. A few hours later, I received an update that Henry had started to turn yellow and the doctors deduced he had caught jaundice fever. Since that diagnosis, things have started to go downhill. Doctors diagnosed it as Hepatitis A Virus infection along with Dengue fever which caused the jaundice and eventually it led to fulminant hepatic failure (acute liver failure). He has since received twice blood transfusion, Plasmapheresis and is on ventilator support.

As an infant, Henry suffered from Bronchiolitis, reactive airway disease and bronchial asthma later on.

Over the past week, the doctors have tried everything and have ultimately recommended that the best option is a liver transplant. The operation and overall medical treatment will cost over $30,000. As of this morning, 7:24 am eastern time, my aunt informed me that Henry’s condition has deteriorated and we will need to proceed with the surgery.

My parents and family have been overwhelmed with everything that is going on, and as I am thousands of miles away, I feel helpless and unable to do anything for my brother. I’ve decided the least I can do is send financial support to help carry some of the heavy burden weighing on my family. This is why I am reaching out to all of you - my friends, colleagues, mentors, friends of friends, strangers, whomever - to help my brother live.

I would greatly appreciate any support at all that you would be willing to give as anything helps! Please feel free to share this page as well!

Thankfully,

Henry’s brother - Alphonse

Henry is currently admitted into Sahyadri Hospital in Pune, India.
