Liver Surgery for Weston
Hello,
My name is Weston and I am a good boy. I am almost two years old and was rescued by the Newsom family in May and I love my new home. I moved all the way from Tennessee to Maine. Unfortunately, my doctors told me recently that I have a shunt in my liver and my liver is not eliminating toxins correctly.
This is making me very sick.
Surgery to fix my liver will improve my chances of living a long and happy life, but it is very expensive—$9,500! My doctors tell me that without the surgery, I will likely only have two or three more years to live with my new family. My family has helped me so much by taking me to good doctors even though they’ve only known me a short time. I can tell they love me very much by all they have done for me.
I hope that by starting this fundraising effort I can help my new family by raising enough money for my surgery. I have to go all the way to Tufts veterinary hospital in Massachusetts to have my operation. I don’t mind though, I love car rides almost as much as swimming and my toys.
Although I’m sure going through surgery will not be easy for me, I really want to do it so I can spend as much time with my family as possible because I know they would be lost without me.
I even think my new brother Fergus would be sad without me around.

When we rescued Weston a couple months ago we made a lifetime commitment. He had little stability in his life and despite all of his hardships he loves life and everyone he meets. He’s a true gentle spirit that brings such joy to our family and to anyone he greets. Weston is a good role model for everyone. He deserves a long life.
His liver condition is a birth defect creating problems that no one could foresee. Weston’s condition was totally unexpected but we are committed to ensuring he gets the surgery he needs to live a long and healthy life. Like many people in this country, $10,000 for veterinary care is a challenge for us to pay. We appreciate any donation big or small to help us get him the care he needs.
