Liver, Laugh, Love

I am Ashley Cox (Yell). If you knew me in high school or college then you knew I came as a package deal. Wherever I was, Meagan Smith (Stevens) was sure to be and vice versa. We both got married in 2012 to some amazing men and I moved across the country and then across the world. But time and distance haven’t dented our friendship. And so when Meagan called me and told me the wonderful man she married, Joshua Smith, was in the ICU with acute liver failure and would need a liver transplant followed by a month long stay in the hospital in Alabama hours from their home, I wanted to help.

Meagan and Josh are wonderful members of our community. Josh has volunteered as a coach for our local leagues and has been a volunteer firefighter. Meagan is a vet tech that has helped many of our local animals. They’re the kind of people that would give you the shirt off their backs. I’m not asking for your shirt or your liver, but maybe you can dig in your pockets and find a bit of cash for them? This is very new and the financial burden is unknown but, anyway we slice it, it is going to be hefty between medical bills and a month stay in Alabama. If you know Meagan and Josh, you know they’d never ask this for themselves, so I am asking for them. Let’s make it to where they don’t have to worry about anything other than getting Josh healthy and hilarious again!
