I was induced for two dreaded days of terror and anxiety as I was forced to do what no mother should—give birth to her stillborn child. When those grueling two days were over and she came into the world- unsettling silence filled the hospital room. No cries. Not a sound. All my doubt of being a good parent, and of her being mine were gone. But so was she. The only time I smiled and felt some relief and comfort was when I was leaving the hospital empty handed and was given a box to fill those empty hands.
