Live, Laugh, Love Ian

On Friday, February 10th, 2023, Ian Chandler, of Mauriceville, was in a severe motorcycle wreck when a vehicle turning left from the northbound lane crossed into his southbound lane causing Ian to hit the passenger side of the vehicle. Ian was life-flighted from the scene to St. Elizabeth in Beaumont due to being unconscious and bleeding internally. There they discovered an aortic dissection, collapsed lung, shattered pelvis, and a brain bleed, along with multiple other internal injuries that have resolved or will resolve on their own.

Ian was quickly life-flighted again to the Red Duke Memorial Hermann Trauma Center in Houston on Fannin. Once stabilized he went into emergency surgery for his aortic tear. On Saturday, he was stable enough to go into surgery for his pelvis. They were only able to do external fixation due to his brain trauma. He will go back to surgery in the next day or 2 for permanent internal fixation. He has 6 bilateral crush injuries to his pelvic areas.

Ian's biggest concern is his Diffused Axomal injury to his brain. He has an Inter-cranial Pressure Monitor (ICP Bolt) in his cranium. We are not sure of the outcome of this injury. It is just too soon to say. He does respond to some pain commands. He is on a breathing machine that is allowing his brain pressure to stay somewhat stabilized. They are doing spontaneous breathing tests and hoping to remove chest tube and breathing tube in the next few days if any way possible and keep him sedated with other meds. He is not conscious and though we know he hears us we do not know the long-term impacts.

His mom has come up from Temple and has been living in the hospital waiting areas while Ian is so critical. She will have to stay close for the duration which will be at least a month. His dad is driving in from Beaumont also regularly. Ian will need a very lengthy hospital stay and rehab. He will need accommodations to his home and long-term help to ensure a strong and healthy recovery.

We are requesting prayers for a speedy recovery and if there is any way financial assistance can be offered, please consider donating to this go fund me to help his mother and family stay close to his side.

Gina, his mother, offers thanks and love for all those keeping Ian in their prayers.

God Bless everyone!
