My 15 year old step-daughter Olivia was recently diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. Crohn's disease is a chronic inflammatory disease of the digestive tract.
There are no medications or surgical procedures that can cure Crohn's disease, there are only preventative treatments. Treatment options help with symptoms, maintain remission, and prevent relapse.
One in five people with the disease are admitted to hospital each year, and half of those with the disease will require surgery at some point over a ten-year period.
Olivia is suffering through a severe case and has been fighting a very tough battle over the last 4 months. She continues to struggle with weight loss and appetite. Her treatment is very tolling and costly - it requires a Chemo-Therapy classified drug and has been taking a serious toll on Olivia. We are looking to raise some funds to help offset the crippling cost of these procedures. As we all know, health insurance alone is outrageously expensive, much less serious medical procedures.
