Chase Matthew Jantz has arrived! Born on Aug 4, 2014 at 5:03pm. Weighing 1lb 12oz and 12.5 inches long. He has a strong heartbeat and he is very feisty. God has blessed us with a beautiful baby boy.

Let me take you on a journey of these past 4 weeks.....

On July 18th, Neil, Bree and I left to go on our annual family vacation to Buena Vista, CO. Everything was going great until day 5. I had noticed some unusual spotting and got extremely nervous. I called my OB at home and they told me that I needed to go to the nearest emergency room (which was in Salida, CO.) to get checked out. So that is what Neil and I did.

After they checked me out, they had determined that I was 2 centimeters dilated. The emergency room that I was at did not have the capability to handle preterm labor as I was only 24 weeks, so they had to air lift me(by helicopter!) to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs, CO.

I arrived at the hospital and was immediately put in the labor and delivery ward for two days. They wanted to monitor me and the baby. They also tried to slow down any labor that was happening.

Two days later, they moved me to the women's ward were I was put on strict bed rest. I stayed here for 11 days.  We were happy to be moved to a less intesive care room.

August 1st my water broke. Dr said it was not uncommon for this to happen to someone in my condition. They thought I should stay pregnant for many more weeks.

Well, on the 13th day of being in the hospital, Aug 4, Neil was leaving to head back home to Wichita to have Aubree's tonsil surgery done. Later that day, I started to feel Chase moving extremely lower than what he had been and was feeling a lot more pressure. Dr came in and decided that I needed to have a sonogram to see what was going on. They came to get me an hour later. While we were doing the sono the tech said that she was going to have to get the Dr to come and look at the pics. She said that she needed to do an exam to see what was actually there. While doing the exam, Dr said, "Oh, there is his foot!" Chase had decided to stick his foot out through my cervix. Dr then said that we needed to get me in for an emergency C-section. We immediately called Neil. He was only about an hour from Wichita but turned around and headed back to Colorado Springs. He said that was the longest 6 hour drive of his life!  When he was a few miles outside of Colorado Springs he saw what we think is a sign from God that Chase was going to be just fine.  A break in the clouds with the sun shining down pointing to the hospital. See photo below.

An hour and a half later, at 5:03pm Chase Matthew was born at just 26 weeks. Weighing in at 1lb and 12 oz and 12.5 inches long.

Chase was admitted to the NICU. He has been there ever since.

He is doing great and is slowly growing. He has gained 2 ounces since he has been in there. He is now 8 days old. He has a strong heartbeat, good oxygen levels and he is a feisty little boy.

Only God knows the true reason all of this has happened and we have have felt Him by our side this whole time. We have friends and family praying all over the world and the power of this prayer is undeniable! For example, Neil and I were questioning why he had to come so early and why this was happening. Three days after he was born, God gave us glimpse of His power and reasoning. The Dr came into our room and told us that not only did I develop Strep B but along with that I developed a secondary infection in my uterus that was not good for Chase. If I would not have delivered when I did, Chase would have become very sick and most likely would not have survived for much longer.

We also cannot thank our friends and families enough. Your love and support has simply been amazing! Neil, Aubree and I are truly blessed!

As you can imagine with everything that has happened these past few weeks, our medical expenses and traveling expenses(going back and forth from Wichita to Colorado Springs) are starting to really pile up and as everyone knows, money(or lack there of) can cause a lot of stress. Most likely we will be here until early November and most likely I will have lost my job by then. If there is any monetary amount you can donate to our fund we have setup we would GREATLY appreciate it. But more important than anything, please keep praying for us. No dollar amount could ever be put on the amazing power of prayer!

We will keep adding updates as things progress for us in Colorado Springs.

Thanks and we love you all!!!
