Levi is an amazing two year old boy, with incredible spirit and a beautiful gentle soul. He loves the outdoors, kicking a ball and driving his toy trucks and cars everywhere. He watches Thomas the Tank Engine, PJ Masks and Disney Cars.
Levi's family is also expecting a baby brother or sister for Levi in April 2019.
Unfortunately on the 31st of October 2018 Levi was diagnosed with a Bone Cancer in his neck. It usually affects 10yo - 20yo and is rarer in toddlers.
Levi's Parents were given the horrible news that the tumour is in advanced stages and has spread to a secondary location. Levi has started his Chemo and will be on a 12 month treatment plan to kill his tumour.
The proximity to his brain and spine makes operating impossible. The location of the tumour in his neck is impacting the nerves that allow
Levi to talk clearly and swallow.
Levi is currently fed by tube as a result. It is too early to tell the long term impact on those nerves. The tumour is pushing against the protective sack around the brain.
Levi is doing well considering the extreme number of tests and anesthetic he has endured.
Now that the horrible shock is over, Levi's Parents are starting to find their hope and just focus on getting Levi through each day.
As a result Levi's Mum will be off work unpaid for at least twelve months. Levi has been home just one night in the past 3 weeks.
There is also the high possibility that Levi will require treatment overseas next year. Should that occur, Levi will likely be going with Dad, as Mum will be too heavily pregnant to fly.
The treatment they are looking at will mean Levi is away from Mum for 6-7 weeks. Levi's next scans are in late January and will determine the next steps in his treatment.
While their world feels like it’s stopped, sitting in hospital hoping treatment works; The bills just keep rolling in. There are also medications that are not covered, machines to be hired, equipment to be purchased, and general care items to make Levi comfortable. Let's help give Levi every opportunity to fight this long battle.
