Lenix Louise Greig was born on July 1st to the most excited & loving parents. Unfortunately, within days of birth she was diagnosed with a few congenital heart defects. Little Leni spent the first week of her life in the NICU & will be facing at least one open heart surgery in her first year of life.
Only a few days ago, at just less than two months old, Lenix was also diagnosed with necrotizing enterocolitis, a serious condition that is more common in premature babies & those with cardiac issues. She is currently in the NICU.
At this time the Greigs do not know how this will/has affected her heart and open heart surgery timeline. Lenix will have another echocardiogram in the next couple of days to see if she needs to start a medication to prolong the inevitable surgery before she can go home. It could be days, it could be weeks, or a couple of months.
Katie & Bo have been through more than any parent should. On top of the emotional stress, they will soon be faced with the medical bills that come with having a sick baby & Katie's inevitable return to work.
