Little Hands COVID Recovery

Whether your children enjoy Little Hands now, or played and learned with you at our school decades ago, you can make a difference in the future of Little Hands. Like many small nonprofits, Little Hands has been hit hard by the COVID pandemic. Reduced class sizes mean reduced tuition. The pandemic means limited or no typical in-person fundraisers. We need your help to continue being a stimulating, safe, and nurturing environment so parents and children can play and learn together for #5MoreDecades.

 

Since opening the doors in 1975, our co-operative school has provided a place for children from the ages of 6 months to 4 years to explore, learn and play while also helping parents learn and grow alongside their children.

 

Little Hands has played a significant part in the lives of many families in our community, typically serving more than 100 families throughout the Peninsula each year. We are proud to have many parents in our program who attended Little Hands as babies and toddlers.

 

This past two years have been incredibly challenging, as the COVID-19 pandemic saw us close our doors for many months, and reopen with very minimal class sizes. We have done what co-ops do and worked together, stayed positive, and adapted. We offered online classes for both children and parents, small on-site classes last year, and only slightly larger classes all outside this year. We believe passionately that we are here to support and connect the young families in our community, now more than ever. 

 

The financial impact on our school, however, has been challenging. This year, we will need to raise $50,000 in order to break even. We hope to cover some of that with smaller, COVID-safe fundraisers, but direct cash donations and sponsorships will be needed to fill the gaps. As a non-profit, Little Hands has always relied on the support of our community to continue to provide this cherished program, and now we need our community more than ever.
