Birds Cannot Swim

Donation protected
I sell small adorable bird paintings with positive messages on them in Jackson Square, New Orleans. Last week someone stole twelve big huge heavy art storage carts, including mine. It is widely speculated that a man with a mental health illness pushed them into the Mississippi River, where one cart has been found so far. My cart contained about $5000 worth of artwork and about $1000 worth of supplies.

The financial loss is obviously upsetting, and I am intensely sad about the paintings that are gone. I put a lot of love into each and every one. It’s how I make a living but also how I communicate with the world and do my best to bring more joy and smiles and love to people.

What is also upsetting is to think about the person who did this, what they have likely endured, and what they may be struggling with.

I am hoping to raise zillions of dollars. A wee bit to help partially offset my own financial loss, and the rest of the zillions for NAMI New Orleans (National Alliance on Mental Illness).  NAMI New Orleans offers hope, help, and healing to people with mental illness – and to those who share their lives – through family support, education and advocacy, and quality psychosocial services.
