Litchfield County Zine Fest 2019

The Litchfield County Zine Fest 2019 will be the second edition of Connecticut’s first zine fest. This labor of love is a celebration of self-publishing with dozens of artists selling and trading their work and educational workshops on creating art and self-publishing that are free to the public. We are committed to making this event free for everyone, including the artists.
While we have received a Regional Initiative arts grant from the state of Connecticut (with support from the Department of Economic and Community Development, Connecticut Office of the Arts, which also receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency), we are required to match 25% of the amount received, which is technically $355, but we also have some stretch goals.
Here is how we will be using the money:
Materials/Equipment for workshops and decoration: ~$60
Promotion (printing postcards and posters and the cost of boosting the event on Facebook): ~$200
Paying for gas money and labor to distribute posters and other promotional materials: ~$100
Any additional money will go towards either food for vendors or compensating the volunteer workshop presenters.
The zine fest is on September 22nd, so we need the money pretty quickly. We can put some of these expenses on credit cards temporarily, but can’t pay for all this out of pocket.
All supporters will have their names or pseudonyms listed on the zine fest welcome banner.
We will be so grateful for even small donations, as we’re passionate about zines and self-publishing writing and art as a means of self expression and personal growth, and are super excited to bring all these artists and inspiration to the Northwest Corner of Connecticut!
