Hello, Everyone!
Well, a week from today (7/13/2020) I will be leaving the shores of the Atlantic Ocean (Belmar, NJ) to begin a cross country pilgrimage to the shores of the Pacific Ocean (Malibu, CA) on foot in the name of peace and love for the greater good of humanity.
Like many of you, I have become disheartened by the amount of anger, hatred, violence, blame, separation, divisiveness, destruction, and misleading narratives across the board. In witnessing this I ask, “Is this who we are? Is this the best we can be?” My answer, “This is not who we are. This is not the best that we can be.” I can bear no more to see what we have devolved into.
There is a change sweeping across what we know as the U.S. This change seems both insurmountable as well as inevitable. I know that change can often be messy, disorganized, and chaotic. These conditions can breed very strong negative and hurtful emotions. But, I also know that on the other side of change their can be great beauty, newness of life, peace, harmony, and cooperation. I want to do my part to impart human decency, love, respect, and a focus on our commonalities and not just our differences.
I am going to walk across this country, the US, to listen to US, to other people’s stories’ about their humanity, to the soul of their humanity. “What are their triumphs and joys?” What are their heartbreaks and sorrows?” “Dreams fulfilled? Dreams denied?” When we connect to our human experience with the intent to listen and to learn, especially of our own individual human experience, then we can begin to see our collective experience as members of humanity, which then may open the door for empathy, understanding, respect, and love. All the “ism’s” and labels we claim for ourselves and hurl at others tears apart the one identifier that matters the most, our shared humanness in humanity.
Though this trip is solo, I know that I am not alone. I know that there are others who feel similarly. I know that there are others who desire peace and love to avail during and after these uncertain times. I invite you to follow me, pray with me, and send good energy, and love for this mission. Together, we can bring the change of love, unity, and harmony that we seek in our lives, in our communities, and in our nation.
The funds raised for this walk will help with needed expenses to be on the road during this odyssey as well as back at home during my 4 month walk. Your support would play an integral part in helping to bring decency, love, peace, harmony, understanding, and acceptance during these unprecedented times.
