I'm Lesly, younger sister of the most humble, loving, and giving person you'll ever meet.

If you've ever had the pleasure of meeting my sister, Lissett, I'm sure she holds a special place in your heart. If you don't, know that she's a woman who loves unconditionally, wholeheartedly, is extremely thoughtful, and always strives to inspire those around around her. Everyone she comes across loves her, and with reason.

Lissett and Scarlett’s story

32 years old, pregnant, with cancer. What was thought to be what they call a benign "pregnancy tumor” turned out to be osteosarcoma of the mouth.
After undergoing a 14-hour-long surgery while 26 weeks pregnant, surgeons were able to remove the bottom right half of her jaw where the tumor was located and reconstructed a new one.

Three days later, she was back in the OR because of a clot. After weeks of being hospitalized, she was finally discharged but recovery was short lived because she had to return back to be readmitted when she noticed her vision from her right eye became blurry only to find out that her tumor was back and compressing her optic nerve.

On August 24th, In order for Lissett to undergo her first round of chemo ASAP, Scarlett Lissett Cuarezma was born prematurely at 30 weeks at Jackson Memorial Hospital weighing 2 lbs 15 ounces. She is currently thriving and on her way to being discharged around early November.

On August 28th, Lissett was discharged home. She was readmitted days later because of neutropenic fever caused by infection. Once the fever was gone, she underwent her first round of radiation and underwent a new chemo treatment which lasted 3.5 days. Currently, she is still admitted while recovering from the debilitating side effects of treatment.

With her newborn baby girl, husband, family, and support team as her strength, Lissett is fighting and remaining positive as she goes through this difficult time. There is still an unknown journey that lies ahead.

Once Scarlett is out of the NICU in 6 weeks, her husband, Julio, will be taking a 3 month FMLA leave from work. This will allow Julio to take care of Scarlett while Lissett’s mom continues to care for her during radiation and inpatient chemo. Your contribution will help with cost of living and medical expenses. This will help ease some of the stress of the already difficult time in their lives. We are all optimistic about the future. Any donation, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated.
