The Backstory
A fall in mid-February 2018 resulted in Lisa’s broken upper left arm and her being physically unable to continue her part-time position at Schnucks beginning at that time. Medics understood that her bone break could heal on its own, without surgery. It did not, so Lisa endured surgery in mid-March to repair the break. After the removal of the cast, Lisa’s arm was rendered mostly useless – very weak and with limited range of motion. Lisa does not expect to be able to return to work until the end of April.
Current Reality
As a part-time employee, Lisa only got paid for hours worked with no sick leave. She does carry limited medical insurance but must pay an exorbitant monthly premium to continue to carry it.
Lisa has burned through her savings to support herself during this time. Medical bills descend that include her patient financial responsibility for the surgery, doctor visits, occupational therapy, and physical therapy, in addition to the usual house, car, food, and other standard life expenses.

In addition to the depth and breadth of Lisa’s spiritual strength, her power rests with all of us – her friends and family – to bridge her vast financial obligations until she can return to work and become more self-reliant again.
