Lisa's Breast Cancer Fight

Donation protected
In July of this year, I first noticed a lump on my breast. I thought it was probably a cyst, but decided to have it checked out. By September, I was having a lumpectomy. The surgery was successful in the fact that my doctor was able to remove the whole tumor. I was diagnosed with stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma.

Tomorrow, I am having surgery to have a port placed in. Right now the plan is to receive 8 rounds of chemo treatments over a four month period followed by six weeks of radiation. Apart from this, I will be receiving some type of medicine through a drip once a month for a year. If all goes well, I will be taking a pill form of chemo for 5 years. I am still pending a PET scan, which will take place on October 4, to make sure the cancer hasn't spread and that it's not stage 4. My doctor said most likely it hasn't spread, but if it has my course of treatment will change.

I am ready to fight this battle like a princess warrior. I refuse to be a victim of breast cancer. I have a lot to live for. My children are 8 and 14. My husband is an awesome father, but there's nobody like mama! Additionally, I teach 7th grade reading, and I am a dedicated teacher who truly loves her students and wants only the best for them. I have a lot to give to the community in this way.

Unfortunately, I only have health insurance with no extra supplemental insurance. It is very hard to start this campaign because I hate asking for help. I hate asking for money. I always feel like there is someone more needy. However, I am slowly learning that this is a time in my life I truly need help. I am missing a lot of work, and the medical bills are piling up fast. I am not the only one who has been diagnosed with cancer. My whole family is feeling the effects of the diagnosis. I don't want to see my children suffer needlessly. I also do not want to stress over financial worries when I need to focus on getting cured. So, I come to you very humbled and ask for your help and support.

I promise I will fight hard. I will beat this. I will find a way to give back and pay forward every blessing I receive during this hard time in my life. Through Christ all things are possible. I am a true believer. Thank you for your time, your love, your prayers, and any other support you can provide. May God bless us all.
