Lisa is 57 years young and has lived in Zumbro Falls for 9 years.  She is a very special person and needs our help with medical bills and financial assistants so Tony, her husband, is able to stay home and take care of her.

Her issues started 15 years ago when she ruptured 2 discs in her lower back.   She had her 1st back fusion shortly after.   This fusion failed, so she had a 2nd surgery on her back.  This was a Posterior/Anterior with hardware.   This fusion worked, but the pain and discomfort was still there.  Hardware was removed to eliminate this from causing the pain, but the pain never got better.  Later Lisa started having heart issues.  She has had 4 heart attacks and 4 stents placed.  Lisa was placed on full disability.

In June of 2016, Lisa was diagnosed with MDS Cancer (Myelodysplastic Syndrome).  This cancer damages the blood cells in the bone marrow and her red blood cells.  Her treatment is Azacitadine, which consisted of 4 shots per day for 7 days in a row, every 4 weeks.

Cemo treatments started that June.   She made it through the first round, than she got Pneumonia and was hospitalized for 8 days.   Once she was off antibiotics, she had her 2nd round of Chemo.   She came down with Pneumonia a 2nd time and was hospitalized for 7 days.   Once antibiotics were done, she had her 3rd round of chemo.   Lisa completed the 4th through 8th rounds of Chemo on schedule.

Recently, Lisa spiked fevers, had leg swelling, abdominal/digestive issues and excessive tiredness.  She underwent a battery of blood tests, x-rays and scans but unsure of the causes.  After several tests Lisa was diagnosed with acute Neutropenic Colitis.   All Chemo was cancelled and increased amounts of antibiotics were prescribed.

Lisa had a 2nd bone marrow test a short time ago.  The results were pretty much the same as her 1st bone marrow test in June of 2016, but her Hematologist believes the cancer is becoming more aggressive due to Lisa requiring more frequent blood transfusions and platelet transfusions.

Lisa came home Monday, July 31st after almost 4 weeks at Mayo including in and out of ICU 4 times.   She is currently starting a monitoring program where she gets blood tests twice per week and transfusions as needed.  This is her last hope to buy  a little more time with her family.   If her blood numbers stay stable for an extended period of time, she may be able to start chemo treatments again.

This last option is to stop all treatments, enlist the care of Hospice and leave the rest up to God.   Her husband, Tony, has taken a leave of absence from work to stay at home with her to provide care for her.   This is going to provide financial strain on them because once his vacation is gone; he will need to take the time unpaid.  Tony and Lisa have been married for over 33 years and he wants to spend as much time with her as possible.

Please donate and help this couple out so that Tony is able to stay with Lisa to care for her without financial worry.

Thank you in advance.
