Lisa Gendron's "Beautiful Heart" Scholarship Fund

Lisa D'Angelo Gendron passed way too soon, but her memory and her impact on others will live on through a scholarship fund to benefit Cohoes High School senior class graduates.
Lisa was the beloved mother of Michael, and a sixth grade teacher to hundreds of students at Cohoes Middle School. She loved being a teacher and always made a special effort to inspire, support and befriend every single student who was lucky enough to have her as a teacher. Her fellow teachers and colleagues will remember her dedication, kindness, and her passion for reading--and for getting her students to read too! She was a role model for her students and never gave up on any one of them.
In a 2016 letter to Lisa, a former student wrote: "You taught me so many things and really helped me with my confidence when it came to school. You were always willing to help in a caring, nurturing way that didn't seem like we were bothering you. I really appreciate the kind of woman you are, and will always be. You are the most beautiful teacher I have ever met, with the most beautiful heart. I will graduate next year with a Juris Degree, something that I, coming from a middle class family, never believed that I could obtain. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for opening up this door in my life".
Through Go Fund me your non-deductible donation will be used to fund scholarships in Lisa's name so that her beautiful heart lives on--by giving financial help to Cohoes students who want to attend college. The fund will provide annual scholarships (up to $1,000 each) to two graduating Cohoes High School seniors. Lisa's fellow teachers will choose the students who will receive the awards--based on the qualities that Lisa thought were important and likely instilled in them while they were students in middle school. Nothing would make her happier.
This effort will continue until all of the proceeds have been distributed to the school, hopefully into future years, so that Lisa's heart lives on and on. All money collected will be used solely for this scholarship fund, and Cohoes High School administrators are aware and supportive of this effort.
