Lisa and Rick are getting MARRIED!!

The story of us:
On March 6th, 2008 Lisa Kelly met Rick Neilson at the Chili's restaurant in Sandy, Utah. It was a first date that would go down in history as the "Best First Date Ever". After several months of awesome dates, Rick moved into Lisa's apartment and they began to build a life together along with Lisa's son Brandon.
Then, on December 3rd, 2009 (Lisa's birthday) Rick proposed to Lisa at a surprise party with her family at their apartment. Lisa happily accepted. Everything was going wonderfully and plans were in motion for a summer wedding. Unfortunately, events occurred that caused several delays to the wedding. Financial struggles, followed by the deaths of Lisa's Grandmother, Father, Grandfather, Brother, and another Grandfather led to what seemed to be a never ending delay of plans for our perfect day.
These deaths came in such a short period of time that we are still working to fully recover from their aftermath. A new normality has begun and we will never be the same again. Lisa lost her father to give her away and her brother who would have been a groomsman, not to mention three wonderful grandparents who would have loved to have been there.
It was a series of truly devastating events and that's why it has taken so long for us to be able to say our "I do's".
But now, after close to ten years together, we have a date set (June 30th, 2018) and plans are firmly in place to make our dream wedding a reality. We are planning a great party for all of our family and terrific friends who have always supported us through all of the tumultuous times we have endured. The only obstacle now is how to pay for it. Sadly, neither of our families are in a financial position to help.
So, rather than giving us wedding gifts, we are asking our friends and family to contribute to this gofundme campaign. We will use the money to pay for a reception venue, catering, music, possibly an open bar, and maybe a honeymoon. We may not get the full amount we would need, but anything helps us (we may just go backpacking for our honeymoon). After waiting for so long, we all deserve an epic party to celebrate! We want to celebrate having such wonderful friends and family as well as our wedding, so this will not be a traditional wedding reception. This will be a true celebration of love! Ours and yours.
We want to start this now to ensure that we have enough time to book a nice venue. Your contributions will help us to fulfill our promise to each other which means so much to both of us.
