Li's Full Life

Hi, my name is Amber. I'm fundraising for my daughter, Aaliyah (aka Li). In October 2021 she was diagnosed with acute myeloid/ myelogenous leukemia, a rare blood cancer that progresses very swiftly. Needless to say, the diagnosis and what went along with it changed her life.

 

Some of those changes entailed missing the majority of her freshman year of high school, undergoing chemotherapy and other major procedures, missing out on extracurricular activities, a drastic reduction in her social life, and tough changes to her body and physical appearance.

 

I'm grateful that through all of this, Aaliyah persisted like a true champ and maintained the will to live a joyous life despite these challenges.

 

In fact, her faith, zest, and life-giving attitude are what kept those of us who got to witness it hopeful most days. And on March 16, 2022, Aaliyah received a bone marrow transplant that allowed her to return home in mid-April as a cancer survivor and a successful bone marrow transplant recipient.

 

Although Aaliyah beat cancer and is now a bone marrow transplant outpatient, she is required to remain in isolation for a year.

 

This means no in-person school, no public or social outings, and no extracurricular activities in the traditional sense. In addition, there are remaining medical expenses for treatments, procedures, weekly hospital visits, and outpatient care.
