Our Ship Sank
The Good Ship Raggamuffin was the alternative living brain child of myself and my husband. We had a dream of living quietly on some land in our "Skoolie" when he got out of the Navy and we moved to a state that would allow him to use his GI Bill to pursue Electronic Engineering. We purchased Raggamuffin pre-converted to an RV and made over $2,000 of improvements and modifications to her for long-term living. She was very challenging but fun to work on and as we got closer and closer to my husband's separation date the more excited we got to embark on the next chapter of our lives.
On February 3rd, 2015, we set out to leave WA state where my husband had been stationed to reutrn to Oklahoma while he was on "terminal leave". As we decended a steep incline off of Whidbey Island the brakes in Raggamuffin failed. As we approached the obligate right turn at the bottom of the hill my husband, in an effort not to drive into traffic and injure others, turned the bus and she tipped over. 
All of our earthly posessions, 2 dogs, 4 rats, and one cat, along with a friend of the family was inside. Our bus, our home, was completely totalled and so was much of our belongings. The Navy and the auto insurance are refusing to assist in any way, even though my husband is going from active duty to reserves and we were in the process of a separation move. All of our time, money, and energy was put into making Raggamuffin our home and it was destroyed in seconds by faulty brake parts.
