Sandy Bunge of Las Vegas Needs a Lift

 

My friend Sandy Bunge has been an active member in her local Lions Club for many years. She and her recently deceased husband, David Bunge (who was King Lion in their club in Woodbury, Tennessee and here in Las Vegas) made service to others an important part of their lives. Sandy is known as the Sunshine Lady, because of her sunny attitude when she meets people and for the fact she calls all her fellow Lions on their birthdays.

Sandy was born with Cerebral Palsy (CP) that affects her right side so that she has always walked with a limp, along with limited right arm movement. She powers through life and never lets her CP limit her efforts to help others. Recently one of her artificial knees failed and her strong left leg had to be surgically locked straight – the knee can’t be bent at all. Her CP limits her ability to recover and she is limited to moving about in a wheelchair. Her son Jerry has quit his career and is now living with Sandy as a full-time aid so her life is as full as possible.

We are asking for donations to purchase a used van that is equipped with a ramp for ease of accessabilty for her. Currently, Jerry struggles to get her into his SUV – the locked leg coupled with the CP makes it difficult to get her in and out of the vehicle. Once in, she is forced to ride with her straightened leg on the dashboard. Watching Jerry lift and maneuver her into and out of the SUV is enough to make YOUR back hurt. This wears them both out so much, that they mostly stay home. She rarely leaves the house.
 
Your donation would mean so much to help a lovely, giving lady get out more and enjoy life to the fullest. Any amount will go along way to making a difference for Lion Sandy, the Sunshine Lady, who has given so much to so many. The purchase of the van will help her to continue to do so.
