Link's Liver Surgery Expenses

I’m not one to ask for help and I’m not sure where to begin but as a dear friend reminded me - this isn’t about me. This is about Link.

This past week, our youngest corgi, Link started showing signs that he was ill and became lethargic. He is such a happy and energetic boy so we were very concerned. We took him to our vet where they discovered his liver levels were high and he had a high fever. They completed several tests, blood work and X-rays to determine the cause but couldn’t determine the cause. The bill for this was over $400.

His temperature spiked to 105 and he had to be rushed to the emergency vet for treatment. The down payment for 24-hour monitoring and treatment over the weekend at the emergency vet was $2,000. As of this morning, the total for the weekend has increased to $3500. Meaning we will owe another $1500.

Link had an abdominal ultrasound this morning and they discovered that he has a tumor on his liver. They gave us the choice of letting him go or surgery. We aren’t ready to give up yet so we chose to try surgery even though they aren’t sure it will be 100% successful. The surgery was quoted to cost between $6,000 -$10,000 and we were required to put down a $6,000 down payment before they would start the surgery.

We have spread the $8,000 over two care credit cards to give us 6 months to pay it off without interest but we know that this isn’t the final total. Once Link is out of surgery, he will need to stay a few more days to make sure his vitals are good so there will be more expenses to be paid.

The last couple of months we’ve had some unexpected vet expenses that we’ve thankfully been able to cover but this has completely drained my savings account and we haven’t been billed the final total yet.

I know it’s the holidays, funds are tights, and it’s been a rough year for everyone but if you’re able to donate towards his expenses we’d greatly appreciate it. No amount is too small. Seriously. Even if you can’t help monetarily please consider sharing this with others.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. <3
