Hello everyone. My name is Ray De Hoyos. I am the brother in law of Lino Gonzalez. I am doing this GoFundMe on his behalf.
In 2015 he was diagnosed with kidney failure due to focal segmental glomerulosclerosis, a rare disease that affects the filtering units in the kidneys. He eventually lost all function in both his kidneys and had to have them removed.
After a long 5 years God has blessed him with a new lease on life and he has finally received a kidney transplant today August 2, 2020. He is currently recuperating at St. Davids North in Austin Medical Center. He will be released from the hospital on Thursday August the 8th. However he will not be able to come home to Laredo, as the doctors are requiring him to stay in Austin for at least a month because he will need constant monitoring throughout the whole month to ensure his transplant is successful.
He will need to stay in a hotel with his father Roberto Gonzalez for the entirety of his stay as there is no family there. Therefore we are asking for any monetary donations to help alleviate the cost of hotels, meals, transportation to and from the hospital as well as any other medical expenses he may need . Austin can get really expensive so we are asking for every ones' help. God willing Lino recuperates and can come home back to Laredo as soon as possible.
