My name is Linda (Burns) Miller. Some of you know me as Ms. Miller from my time working as a teacher assistant. I have always believed that if you see some one in need you do what you can to help. I never thought I would be on the needing side . Over he past two years I have been in and out of hospitals and rehabilitation centers due to complications from diabetes. I am now supported by a continuos flow of oxygen , I have neuropathy, get around in a wheelchair and last month I was hospitalized because I now have seizures.
I raised my three young adult children as a single mom,  after a divorce. I taught my kids to depend on themselves but it is important to help others if you can.
My health started to change 2 years ago. I am diabetic and I got a wound on the bottom of my foot that wouldn't heal. I had to be off of my foot for a long time. I ended up in my first rehabilitation facility to get the strength to begin walking again. The wound didn't heal and I was placed in the hospital. From the hospital back to another rehab facility. I was released to go home and I would get rehab at home.
A year ago my son found me unresponsive . I had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital . Some test were done and after four days I was released to another rehabilitation center. After a month I was released to my home. A month later my son found me unresponsive again. I was taken by ambulance to the hospital. More test done. The doctors told me I had a bleeder. They asked did I remember falling and hitting my head. I couldn't remember. I was sent home again. My physical therapy was continued at home. One month ago my daughter saw me having a seizure. I was taken to the hospital. I was in icu for three days. When I woke up I had a tube in my throat and I had a swollen tongue from where I bit my tongue during the seizure. Now I am being treated for seizures.
GOD has plans for me. I am sure of this. I am here for a reason. Since I have been home the car that gets me to and from doctors appointments and my son to work has broken down. My son skate boards to work and to the grocery store. The mechanic that has worked on the car in the past told my son there was nothing else to do but to trade it in or sale it for scrap. We tried Uber but we can not afford it any more.
Knowing my children have seen me having seizures has been tough. My son is such a smart young man and he loves his ma. When I started getting ill he was in college . He has taken time off to be my caregiver. He works but not long hours in order to help me as I get stronger.
At this time I am not sure how we are going to get around. We need transportation . I have several medications I have to take, several doctors I must see, the rent, insurance, food and the many other things we take for granted. I am not the type of person that likes asking for help and this is difficult to do now. I pray you understand. I appreciate anything you can do to help. GOD BLESS YOU for everything .
Sincerely,
Linda (Burns) Miller
