Linda's Mission To Africa for Kids

Donation protected
Asanti sana, erokamano ahinya or in English, thank you very much for allowing me to "speak" to you today. My name is Linda Okal Wilson.  I will tell you about my upcoming journey to Kenya

Why am I going?

My first husband is Kenyan and I lived in Kenya for many years. It is my second home and I still have family there. They have asked me to come to help with many needs. I am honored to have been chosen by them and after prayerful consideration I believe God wants me to go. I do not have the means to meet certain goals so I have asked God to help me raise funds for the trip.

What is my mission?

1. As a steward of the Gospel I will teach the women of the village how to use the Word of God to train the children to love and serve our Heavenly Father

 2. Set up a resource center with Bibles and other books so they can read and study the Bible

3. Help orphans from the AIDS epidemic by providing needed supplies and clothing

4. Request not just money for the needs they have but ask for prayers for lost souls, for the people who are in need, and for me to be a good ambassador for Christ

Why me?

As mentioned, I lived in Kenya and still have family members there. My ex has been trying to help with needs but he is 85 and his resources are meager. This area is my second home and no one is helping them. They have asked if I could help and now that I am a widow I am able to travel. If God provides the financial assistance then I will know it is His will that I go.

Where will the money be spent and for what?

Some items will be purchased here in the US and shipped there. Bibles and books which portray multiracial pictures are needed. English is their international language and is taught in schools from nursery school on up. As an educator I am evaluating books which have story content that is relevant to all children , not just Americans or others in more developed countries.

Besides books i will be purchasing a keyboard and recorders like many of us learned to use as children. School supplies of every kind are needed as are clothes; these can be purchased there. There will likely be other needs that come to light once I reach Kenya and the village.

What is the timeframe?

i will be leaving at the end of October and anticipate returning the end of March.

Conclusion

It isn't easy to put everything into a short message to portray why I am going and how much this means to me. I am new to Go Fund Me but if you know the organizer, my cousin Ernestine Byrne, or if there is a way to ask questions here you can contact her, me, or message your questions.

Whether or not you can contribute, and even $5 is appreciated, please pray for the people in the village of Kibogo and the children in Thur-Gem school and also for me.

Thank you from them and from me and may God bless you.
