Living in downtown Nashville (my favorite city in the world) has been such a longtime dream of mine! I NEVER thought I’d experience something like this. Not here. It was the scariest moment of my life. At the time of the explosion it was complete chaos - like the most intense earthquake I could imagine. I didn’t know if the building was going to collapse on us or what. I used all my strength to get my 50lb dog out of the corner of the back utility closet and carried her down the 4 flights of stairs hoping we would get out in time. Thankfully we did!! I have no wallet, ID, birth certificate, social security card or passport. FBI has told me it is extremely unlikely I will ever get to see the inside of that building again. I’m starting all over. All I have are the clothes I was wearing when I left so I’m hoping to replace some work clothes, daily essentials (makeup, underwear, brush etc) and hopefully the Christmas presents we had that we never got to open that morning. The garage my car is parked in looks undamaged so I’m hoping that is the case. Don’t know when they will allow access to that area. I am still in absolute shock that this happened and emotions are all over the place, especially as the event keeps replaying in my mind. Even though there are sentimental items I can never replace, at the end of the day it could always be worse!!! I am so grateful for a place to stay, sleep and shower. The prayers and well wishes I’ve received are beyond heartwarming, and I’m thankful to be part of such an amazing community. Thank you so much for all your support and I hope we get answers to why this act occurred.
