Our friend, Linda Franks, was moving from Southern California to Harstine Island to live the retirement dream. After saving for years, Linda bought some property and had her dream home built. This took over a year. Upon it's completion, she sold her home in Southern California and loaded up the moving truck with everything she owned. She stopped in Santa Nella, California, at a motel to get some rest for the night. When she woke up the next morning, she discovered her U-Haul had been stolen with everything she owned in it. Dismay, devastation, hopelessness, catastrophic are not strong enough words to describe her dilemma.
Currently, the truck has not been recovered and exactly how much the insurance will cover is unknown.
Linda's husband, who was a Los Angeles County Deputy Sheriff, died 15 years ago from cancer. She worked at Rite-Aide and saved every penny for this dream to have it shatter in one nightmare.
I know you don't know Linda, but imagine if this was you? I know 2020 has been an awful year for all of us, but wouldn't you feel good helping someone truly in need.
Money can not replace the sentimental things taken like her husband's ashes or photographs, but it will help her get back on her feet until whatever insurance money comes in.
Linda will be arriving at her new home with nothing but the clothes on her back. She needs the basic necessities to live. A bed, clothes, dishes and the basics just to survive.
