Founded in 1854, Lincoln University is the nation’s first-degree granting historically Black College & University (HBCU). Lincoln University has recently approved the start of its first ever lacrosse program with the creation of club teams for both men and women. This is a chance to continue growing the sport of lacrosse and add to its diversification of players.
Lincoln University has a stated goal of adding lacrosse as a varsity sport to compete at the NCAA Division II level for both men and women. However, Lincoln University will begin this process by starting a men’s and women’s club lacrosse team which will become part of and compete in the following well-respected lacrosse club leagues: NCLL (National College Lacrosse League) for men; WCLA (Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse Association) for the women by the spring of 2019. Lincoln University’s Athletics Department and Recreation Services will provide leadership, structure, and resources to allow the student body at Lincoln University to experience a new opportunity playing lacrosse and add to the enrichment of our campus.
We are seeking $20,000 in monetary donations to help offset the financial expenses we are to encounter in order for both the men & women lacrosse clubs to successfully compete. These expenses include:
Club League Dues, Equipment for 25 Men (Helmets, Gloves, Elbow Pads, Shoulder Pads, Lacrosse Sticks, Goals and Uniforms), Equipment for 25 Women (Protective Goggles, Lacrosse Sticks, Uniforms) Transportation, Lodging, and Officials for our games.
