My name is Lillian Evans and I live in South Wales with my family.
I was diagnosed with Caecal Cancer with Peritoneal Metastases in November 2018.
I need to raise money to make the Life Extending Operation at Basingstoke Hospital Happen, which is not Routinely available on the NHS in Wales.
In September 2018, at the age of 62, I had an ache in my side and went to my GP for investigation, after a ultra sound scan and several blood tests nothing untoward showed up. Still under investigation they decided to give me a CT Scan, within a couple days I had a phone call to go and see the GP and that's when he told me it was Not Good News.
Within a couple of weeks I was seeing a Oncologist and was told I was Terminal and possibly had 9 months to 2 Years to live, I would have to have at least three months of Chemotherapy ( Every two weeks for three days ) Starting the 12th of December 2018.
I had several side effects so I had to spend some time in hospital over the Christmas period. However the results where very good and on discussion with the Oncologist I asked to have a further Three months of Chemotherapy, Twelve in Total. The extra three months of chemotherapy also had a good result and further discussion with the Oncologist we where shocked to find out that the Primary Caecal Cancer Could Be Operable.
A PET Scan (NM Whole body FDG PET CT ) performed on 10th October 2019 in Cardiff was arranged but could not take place because in would not be funded so I had to fund for it myself.
The PET San plus a CT scan performed on 27th November 2019 was used by Oncologist and Surgeons both at Swansea, Cardiff and Basingstoke Hospitals to agree the Operation to extend my life should take place with Cytoreductive Surgery and HIPEC.
However because I live in Wales I needed (with the help of my Surgeon) to make a application to the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committe (WHSSC) via The All Wales Individual Patient Funding Request Panel (IPFR) to fund the Operation.
This Application Has Been REFUSED.
I have set my fundraising target at £85,000 to help make happen The Cytoreductive Surgery and HIPEC which is not Routinely available on the NHS in Wales.
And also to help get the Machinery and Expertise to come to Wales so people living in Wales don't have to Move or Pay.
The cost of the Machinery and Expertise could be £??????????
This has been a hugely challenging and traumatic time for me and those closest to me and I thank you in advance for your support.
