Thank you, in advance, for taking time out of your day to read this story. I've started this GoFundMe page for our dear friend and honorary family member, Lilia Jauregui. To make a long story short, she needs $6500 to pay a specialist immigration lawyer (it's a complicated case) to return to the United States, the country she loves and the place where her children, grandchildren, friends, and family live. Lilia played by the rules and applied for legal immigration. She was part way through this process when two things happened, her husband (and father of her children) was brutally murdered and her immigration advocate disappeared. She is the sole care taker for her special needs son, Moises (US citizen), and the main support person for her daughter, Dianna(US citizen), who has a severely handicapped daughter, Darianna. Because of Darianna's disabilities, she has had multiple operations, including open heart surgery, necessitating long stays in the hospital for this little girl and her mother. While Dianna is doing what she needs to do for Darianna, Lilia takes care of Dianna's other 4 children, getting them ready for school, packing them lunches, doing homework, making dinner, cleaning the house, doing laundry etc. etc. So, what's the issue? US immigration should of course understand what an extreme hardship it is on Lilia's US citizen family to not get her back here immediately, right? It would make sense to hurry her through the process if she's the only one taking care of a mentally disabled adult who will end up homeless without her, right? Nope. Dianna and I helped Lilia pick up where she left off in the immigration process by filing new paperwork for her. She was given approvals by USCIS on all submitted petitions and was excited for the day she would travel to Mexico for her appointment at the consulate. That was until the consular officer said, "Oh, I see you overstayed your visit, you are now banned from the United States for 10 years. The only way around this is to hire a lawyer and file a for a waiver." So now Lilia is stuck in Mexico until we can get this money together and get her back to us. Please, please, please help her. Any amount helps! Even $1!!! I will bake the pie or batch of cookies of your choice and give them to you the next time I see you for a $20 donation. Thank you in advance!
