We’re reaching out during one of the most difficult times our family has faced. Our mother-in-law, Lilia "Lila" Aparicio, is currently in the ICU in critical condition. She developed shingles and her body was already immune compromised due to her RA. While being admitted she was diagnosed with ARDS and had to be intubated. Due to this issue, it has required an extensive hospital stay, ongoing treatments, and full-time care. The hospital is currently trying to find a hospital to transfer her to perform ECMO but currently her insurance is being denied, so it is prolonging her stay.
With that being said, her husband is a deep loving, selfless man who would do anything for anyone. He is her only her caregiver when she falls ill. He is with her 24/7, making sure she’s never alone during any illness. Unfortunately, this means he had to stop working completely to stay by her side.
Now, they are facing not only overwhelming medical expenses but also the heavy burden of covering everyday life costs with no income. He has always taken care of her and doesn't hesitate to take the shirt off his back when someone is in need. Today, he needs the help he is willing to give to anyone else.

Nos acercamos en uno de los momentos más difíciles que nuestra familia ha enfrentado. Nuestra suegra, Lilia "Lila" Aparicio, se encuentra actualmente en la UCI en estado crítico. Desarrolló herpes zóster (shingles) y su cuerpo ya estaba inmune y comprometido debido a su artritis reumatoide. Aunque fue admitida, le diagnosticaron Síndrome de dificultad respiratoria y tuvo que ser intubada. Debido a este problema, ha requerido una extensa estancia hospitalaria, tratamientos continuos y cuidados a tiempo completo. El hospital está intentando encontrar un hospital que la trasladara para realizar la ECMO, pero actualmente se le niega su seguro, por lo que prolonga su estancia.
Dicho esto, su esposo es un hombre profundo, amoroso y humilde que haría cualquier cosa por cualquiera. Él es su único cuidador cuando se enferma. Él está con ella las 24 horas del día, asegurándose de que nunca esté sola durante ninguna enfermedad. Desafortunadamente, esto significa que tuvo que dejar de trabajar completamente para mantenerse a su lado.
