The Malecon is dark and ever so black. The promenade that once was the life of Esperanza for families & tourists to sit, chat, or walk to and fro is now the blackest walkway with only a glimmer of life to lead you the way from Lazy Jacks to Bananas. (via the broken balusters and deep hole to the sea in one place)
The only evening entertainment and restaurants on the Malecon and anywhere in Esperanza.
******Lazy Jack's & Banana's are doing their best to stay open with their valliant effort to bring life and a little "break" from the days activities of hunting down an army truck of food/water, gas for a generator, or no generator, no water, no electricity, no a/c, etc....They are saints to keep their places open for a few hours in the day and evening to bring us a much needed respite to a long day.
Help us get the life and a little happiness back into to the Malecon and encourage other businesses to get back up and going. Whether it is an artist kiosk or another restaurant or lil'gift shop... Help us encourage our friends to have a place to smile and visit after it turns pitch black at 6:30 pm.
******Stuart, Natalya & Kelly are leading the charge to "LIGHT UP THE MALECON" We need 20 Solar 1800 LM lights to put atop the exisiting street light poles. The owner of Vieques Gas has 2 placed on corners of his home's yard so we have an actual brand and example to insure we are purchasing an awesome street light. They are $340 each + shipping and installation. We have modified the plan to additionally add string lights from street light to street lights 16 sets at $69 + shipping, just like Lazy Jacks and connect across the street to the restaurants to power their section. (See picture) We have a donor for installation and simply need you or your group to "sponsor" a street light. Each donation of $100 will receive a T-shirt or Wine Glass being specially designed: "I lit up the Malecon" with the Nightime Malecon lit photo/design and names/logos of the Malecon businesses including Lazy Jack's, Banana's, Duffy's, El Guayacan, Duffy's, Tradewind's, Malecon House, El Quenepo, El Bloc, VHCT, Abe's, Cafe del Mar, La Nasa, Vieques Flowers, etc.
