'Lights on the Horizon'
a charity book, supported by Jeremy Irons and Louise O'Neill

'Lights on the Horizon'  is a collection of poetry, prose and photography, which, in a unique initiative, saw writers north and south of the Irish border collaborate during lockdown, to create a literary time capsule of heroes and hope, to raise money for our healthcare heroes.

All proceeds go to frontline workers in the HSE and NHS, who have been risking their lives and making countless sacrifices to keep us all safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The visionary behind 'Lights on the Horizon' was author and playwright Andrew William Tinney, and a first softcopy edition was published both in paperback and on Kindle in 2020.

Writer Niamh Cooper, who also has a story in the book, decided to send copies of the book to celebrities, and none other than Jeremy Irons replied, writing a few lines in support. He wrote:

“One of the positive realisations to come out of this plague is how we all need each other. I hope these stories help us never to forget as we live our future lives.” Jeremy Irons, 11th July 2020

It was then that Niamh, who usually works in educational publishing, decided to publish a hardback edition of 'Lights on the Horizon', to raise even more money for frontline staff.  Countless contributors gave their time free of charge, including graphic design, editorial, photographers, authors, and, for a photoshoot, actors and paramedics, complete with an ambulance.

At the end of September, author Louise O'Neill came endorsed the collection: "'Lights on the Horizon’ is a moving, poignant snapshot of life in the middle of a pandemic. This collection of poems, stories, and photos will be something to treasure when we look back at this time in years to come, wondering how we survived.” Louise O'Neill, September 2020.

To help us cover print costs for the book, stationary, and marketing collateral such as posters, bookmarks and display stands, we're asking for your donations, so that we can give as much back to our frontline workers as possible.

We would be so grateful for your support, and even the smallest donation will make a big difference.

We are looking to raise €4000 and we're already well on our way - but we can't get there without you!

Whether your a business or an individual, supporting our charity collection is a perfect opportunity to give something back to those frontline staff who have been working tirelessly to keep us safe during the pandemic.
